2016
Partnership Assessment Trip
First Trip to Mae Chan
-
The collaboration between BLUElab Thailand Chiang Mai University's PURPLElab begins.
-
Together, BLUElab Thailand and PURPLElab co-design sustainable solutions for flood mitigation in Mae Chan, Northern Thailand.

2017
Needs Assessment Trip
-
We conducted a needs assessment and determined that the highest priority amongst stakeholders interviewed was to reduce the effects of flooding in the city.
-
We approach flood mitigation by addressing stormwater management according to the following needs statements:
-
A way to clear debris and sediment inside the pipes.
-
A way to control water flow direction through 11 key drainage points in Mae Chan City

2018
Prototype Assessment Trip
-
We focused on gathering more information about the project location, clarifying our needs statements, and testing our first prototype
-
We created a hydraulic waterjet nozzle designed to address Need Statement 2.
-

2019
Design Implementation Trip
-
We are using information we’ve gathered about our project location and scope translating it into physical concepts and prototypes that can be presented to the user and tested.

2020+
What Lies Ahead
-
We plan to improve and iterate upon our prototype for Need 2, generate a prototype for Need 1, and construct a test rig of the Mae Chan drainage system to test our prototypes.
-
We are now in the stages of incorporating our user requirements and engineering specifications into usable prototypes
